Mostly sensible pitches and a good variety of pieces with excellent backing tracks
For some reason Drowsy Maggie doesn't appear. Such a shame. They could easily have recorded a backing for this in a suitable key

This collection of pieces is lots of fun and includes tunes from many different countries. It brings relief from the grind of practising scales, arps and grade pieces. One of my favourites(Muineira) appears only in the violin edition that I purchased for my girls - Fiddler playalong collection 1 - a catchy tune from the region of Galicia that spans northern Portugal and Spain. Viola players can transpose as they play or just play the notes as if you were reading the alto or viola clef, you will be playing it a 5th lower.

A range of music to widen my son's appreciation of what his viola can do. Not just classical music for his Grade 3 last summer, not just being in an orchestra or in a string quartet (which he thoroughly enjoys), but being still young (11), it's great to have him making music with "lollipops" from around the world. Having fun with his teacher using this book.

The fiddler play along book and CD was a gift for my wife who had just bought a Viola. As it had been 30 years since attaining a grade 8 on viola she was a little rusty and this play along book was just what she wanted. The music is duplicated so that it can be played by piano or violin and the CD is of good quality. An excellent product and has proven to be a first class Christmas present.

Great fun, this collection samples a variety of musical styles, rhythms and modes from celtic to tango via Hungarian, Jewish and more. A tempting taster for the others in the editor's series!
