      Musicroom Reviews

I've been playing piano for about 2 months now and wanted something to challenge myself a bit and a change from the classical stuff we do in class. The songs in here are great fun to play and there's quite a range of difficulty within the book, from tunes I've learnt in a couple of days to things I don't think I could actually attempt yet. My main gripe is that some notes have been left out for no apparent reason, as they don't make the tune any harder to play if you add them in. Also, certain tunes like "the model" are incomplete and don't have all the lyrics but I suppose that's to save space. Another minor quibble is the author's dubious choice of voicing for the song's. A saxaphone for Cars??? But you can just listen to the original and put that right. Overall this is a great book for someone in the first few months to a year of piano. It has full fingerings for every melody and chord and has helped me a lot with technique, not to mention giving me some classic tunes to entertain my mates with hehe.

Very basic, although a good selection of well known 80's synth hits. The score focuses on the vocal line, not the great synth hooks that these songs are really known for. They also lack bassline, a key part of any 80's classics. So, not exactly complete, but OK for beginners.

Another part of one of the best sets of teaching music publications on the market. Especially great for olduns like myself who haven't heard the music before!
