Plenty of material, ear training as well as note and rhythm recognition, opportunities for composition.

Excellent for group teaching. Introduces aural skills early on and my pupils love the backing tracks.
I am not sure I would use this on its own as it doesn't provide many performance 'pieces' in the early stages.

I am really pleased with this book for beginner violinists. Probably suitable for Y3 upwards, it introduces open strings with lots of fun pieces, played at a realistic speed for beginners on the backing track. Then introduces all 3 fingers on a string at a time which I think is better than working on first finger only on all 4 strings etc. There are lots of rhythm and aural activities which really stretch the pupils. This is my favourite tutor book at the moment and I have tried many over my 25 years of teaching!
