This edition comes with a single soloist part in tenor clef (and occasionally base clef) and a piano part. The Ferdinand David Trombone concerto is a piece of standard repertoire for the advanced trombonist. The first and third movements are up tempo making use of similar themes, whilst the second in a slower more lyrical passage. This piece contains a number of complex ornaments (such as lip trills) and will test the range of a good trombonist. The first movement is a grade 8 test piece (TG) and the whole piece is on several syllabuses for diploma level exams.
