    Musicroom Reviews

This is a comprehensive tutor for the harpsichord or spinet, founded on detailed research into performance practice and full of practical advice and information. It assumes you can read music but then takes nothing for granted, including, for example, in the earliest pages, developing a clear understanding of the differences between piano and harpsichord technique, and how to phrase and accentuate on an instrument without variations of volume. The tutor is not for the fainthearted, moving steadily and confidently from these first steps, through simple pieces, and on through pieces of increasing complexity, to intermediate difficulty and beyond, all sequenced so that new challenges are introduced in order, and all with detailed notes. This is an excellent resource from an expert and sympathetic guide and is fully recommended.
