Allan Blank (1925-2013) was a violinist, composer, and teacher. Born and raised in New York, he studied at New York University, the Juillard, Washington Square College,the University of Minnesota, and the University of Iowa. He was a violinist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, before turning to teaching, eventually serving as a professor of composition at Virginia Commonwealth University for nearly 20 years. He wrote over 60 published works, with many more going unpublished.
