I studied the clarinet as my third instrument at college with this tutor book alongside the Demnitz some 35 years ago, and the two make perfect companions. The Thurston/Frank is succinct and fast paced - well suited to an adult learner - while the Demnitz provides ample exercises to consolidate each level the learner is at.
Since coming back to the clarinet a few weeks back and having lost my orginal copy (had a black cover with an image of a clarinet(ist, I am gratified to find the same satisfaction I felt over 30 years ago, and the book is great for an adult re-learning the instrument. There is nothing I could say to fault this manual except that perhaps the typesetting could be a bit more "modern" and attractive, especially to appeal to younger players wanting to advance quickly. But there is something to be said for preserving the "classic" original look of the book for adult (re-)learners. I would still recommend this for the breadth of musical examples to study especially from the standard classical orchestral repertoire.
