Small number of pieces which accords with price but it is worth it. Pieces all much the same standard which makes it interesting for the student at grade5/6 stage.

        Musicroom Reviews

A very nice collection of blues/jazz piano solos. Not too difficult to play either. A bit pricey at £7.95 for just 5 pieces.

I bought this years ago and loved it, but the person who borrowed it obviously loved it too... All five pieces are great, and Modulations was my list C piece at grade 6 about ten years ago. The other four pieces are less challenging than that, I would say. If you are an intermediate pianist who enjoys pieces in a jazzy style, this book should be enjoyable, and the pieces are useful repertoire if you ever need to play relaxing and non-intrusive music at social gatherings, school events, etc. I would certainly recommend it.

As a novice to jazz piano, I am enjoying these pieces. The preface contains a handy brief rhythm guide while the scores are at an intermediate level but sound satisfyingly jazzy when played. It would be even better if the book had an accompanying CD as guidance (apologies if there is one already that I have missed).

Rory (aka the Pied Piper) loves this style of music and thinks the first piece he has played from the book is wonderful

This book was easy to order and came the next day after ordering. A good cover the pages are well set out and the music is bright and clear. The arrangement is excellent and does credit to Mike Cornick's composition. Well worth buying if you like blues and are intermediate playing standard or above though its not beyond lesser standards.

This is a great book for discerning pianists who want to explore jazz. The pieces are intelligently written and offer great scope for musical expression, whilst getting to grips with the complexities of jazz rhythms. I frequently use it with my students who are between Grades 5 & 6, waiting to get their Gr5 theory. Often a bit of lull period which gives an opportunity to explore wider repertoire. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

I'm really enjoying playing this! I have done Grade 5 but am very out of practise so I think it would be suitable for Grade 4 upwards.

What a lovely selection of Pieces by Mike Cornick. All come under the fingertips and are about Grade 5 standard. My pupils are going to enjoy these!

Got this along with "On The Cool Side" (which is fantastic) for my teenage son & he is now always at the Piano.

Apart from being a little pricey for the number of pieces in the collection this is generally well received by my pupils. It is by far the best choice of the C section pieces for the grade 5 ABRSM exams.

5 stars for music quality but only 4 stars given for value because there are only 5 pieces over 8 pages of music. However they are good pieces of grade 5 - 6 level. Worth giving a them a try.
