Don't be misled by the word "Preparatory". This tutor goes up quite high to four sharps and four flats. I have tried other tutors which take the Harmony approach eg Chords. Mr Thompson takes the Melody approach which although I think the other tutors (Book one) helped in getting into this one, I think Mr Thompson's approach is much better. The first few pages are devoted to reading and I think the following music material is more "sensible" than most of the material in other tutors for an adult. I can highly recommend this book.

        Perfect for an adult beginner.

This is the best adult piano method I've found; the simple melodies are quite nice, however, the design and the text are very dated and could do with a revamp.

Valorisante pour les adultes débutants qui ont besoin de résultats rapidement, mais un peu rapide dans la progression des difficultés et de la lecture.

I used this book for 2 adult sisters, and found the content very helpful. It would be even better if, like some children's books it contained pictures of how to sit at a piano, eg. relation of arm and wrist - sitting position on music stool.

I am recently retired I always wanted to play an instrument now I have the time, I am new to music and the piano, I did not realise that the book needed a teacher, I thought I could "learn from the Manual", now I have a teacher it's fine
