So You Want To Play By Ear?

Books | Piano

Publisher: Stainer & Bell
Composer: Claire Liddell
Format: Books | Instrumental Tutor
This 96-page book has been prompted by the many people who have come to the author with the common wail I can play the piano - a bit of Mozart and even an easy Chopin waltz - but I can't harmonise anything by ear when my friends ask me, or even when I'm alone. But anyone can - YOU CAN.

This practical guide to improvisation is aimed at all those who have a beginner's knowledge of the keyboard and who want some fun from it.

It's enjoyable to work with, perfect for someone who hasn't a clue about a keyboard instrument, or, say, for a child, since the language is simple and very explicit, and it goes in easy steps. An excellent little book. I'll hang on to it.
There aren't any, really. It does what it says on the tin. I was hoping fora quick fix. I can read advanced piano scores - Beethoven Sonatas and so forth, but can't harmonise a simple tune without sitting down and working it out.
