Concepts are explained very well, and in a concise way. You get straight into playing pieces that incorporate what you learn, so progress feels good!
Being a few decades old, there are a fair few songs that are unrecognisable to me, so need to be looked up, but a minor issue really, as there are many songs to choose from.

Definitely good for complete beginners. I liked they way the left hand was introduced quite quickly. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Very clear for even an absolute beginner and very good as a refresher course for those that played the piano a bit many years ago !

I also am learning piano, after many years of playing keyboard, this book is very easy to follow it makes a nice change from learning classical as it helps to learn the correct fingering for both hands. The print is very clear, the only downside, it would be easier to handle in ring binder form.

I love this book. I began takeing piano lessons less than a year ago and I can play many recognizable songs and I can follow the book easily. My teacher also enjoys the book. He feels the order and information is what he would be teaching. It is fun and informative.

I've just started learning the piano (self taught)after a (nearly) 20 year break from music. The book is easy to follow & you are "playing", albeit one finger, straight away. I'm using it in conjunction with a couple of books - I need to practice sight reading. The Baker book makes this a little too easy & I'm jumping some of the easier exercises as I have mastered them already via other books. The only criticism I have, is that in book one, there are no scales. Everybody tells me that you need to learn & practise the scales as a building block.
