Ernest Walker: I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes (ATB And Organ)

Books | Choral, Organ

Publisher: Novello
Composer: Ernest Walker
Format: Sheet Music | Vocal Work
Twentieth century musician Ernest Walker was more widely known as a writer on music, educator, pianist and accompanist than as a composer, though his, mainly Choral, output is respected. Walker eschewed sentimentality or theatrical show in his compositions. His conservative style had room for chromatic harmony, as in I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes.

This is one of the most beautiful, least known, Edwardian-style Anthems.
Harmonically clean and gentle, it is actually for ATB and organ.
The accompaniment is a stand-alone piece of gentle beauty!
Very nicely printed on good quality paper.

A beautiful setting of familiar words from psalm 121. It creates a calm, meditative and prayerful mood and is a pleasure to sing.
