I have 2 year 7 students using this book currently. They are progressing quickly, and confidently. The style is clear and easy to follow, and the pieces interesting for them to play. It's encouraging them to practise so this book must do something right!

The Piano Adventures series is fantastic, the best teaching method I have used; I use this method with all my pupils now. The Accelerated Lesson Book 1 is for the older beginner - age 11 -adult. International edition means it talks of crotchets etc, the other edition is American and uses quarter notes and so on. Always get the theory book to use alongside this. You can just use those two books, or get the performance and technique books too for additional tunes and tips of teachnique. The lesson book starts very simply with the basics such as finger numbers, before learning the stave. Students who learn with this method have superior sight-reading skills from the start, as it focuses on recognising and playing by intervals, and I love that it doesn't get too hard too soon, as many tuition books do! MUCH better than other teaching methods. Includes fun duets with many of the tunes.

A well presented book and delivers for an intelligent pupil, however there is not enough advancement for it to be called accelerated. I have one pupil who has gone through this book in precisely 1 month.
