Works well for children. Follows on easily from the other books and has theory book that works along side of it.

Good book with lovely songs. I bought it for my son after it was recommended by his piano teacher. He is playing the songs very well I would definitely recommend it

I studied as a child using the Bastien series of books and now use this also to teach my own Piano students. There is steady progression and theory through each book and a nice mix of songs that children do know and also don't know but that they enjoy.

My pupils love the Bastien series. The pieces are easy to read, allowing a steady progression through the various technical challenges.

Exercises are well thought. The only thing I wish it had is a companion tape or CD for the child to get to know the songs and develop an interest in playing them. My kid jumped ahead to practice Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” just because he had heard it before and find it enjoyable to play it. Other than that it is good challenge for beginners and escalates well.
