Jon Liebman. Critically acclaimed as the best single source for the techniques used to play funk and slap-style bass! Features several photos and a special section on equipment and effects. A book for everyone - from beginners to advanced players. Includes a foreword by John Patitucci and is endorsed by Rich Appleman of the Berklee College Of Music, Will Lee, Mark Egan, Stuart Hamm and many others. Includes a 58-minute audio CD accompaniment.
I think this is a great book. If you go through it carefully and do all the exercises in the manner prescribed, by the end you'll have an excellent grounding in slap technique and a load of grooves and licks to use. However, bear in mind that you'll need to be able to read music (or at least understand basic rhythmic notation) to get the most out of it. Although everything is tabbed, only the last two chapters (out of six) are on the CD - if you need the music to hear the rhythms, you probably won't get very far.

All I have to say about this book is, if you play bass and you even remotely like funk, then buy this now!
This is such a good teacher of funk style playing. It starts off with really simple riffs and builds up step by step to the almost impossible.
A great buy. Anonymous
