Not the most easily accessible tuition book for a novice as it tends to expect a reasonable level of experience. That said, this book provides a wealth of knowledge about many aspects of guitar playing, including a very useful list of great guitarists from many genres and some nice chord shapes. Even if you're not that much into country picking the technical approaches described, tabbed and annotated should broaden horizons considerably.
