James Rae: Take Another Ten - Saxophone

Books | Saxophone with Piano Accompaniment

Publisher: Universal Edition
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album

Ten popular pieces representing a wide range of musical styles, from Bach to the present day, arranged for E Flat (Alto) or B Flat (Tenor) Saxophone, and Piano. All the numbers suit the idiosyncrasies of both tenor and alto saxophones equally well, which is unusual in a collection such as this.

These fantastic arrangements include works by Bach, Purcell, Faure, Bizet, Weill, Strachey and Link and Duke Ellington. James Rae has written so much for saxophone and here he comes forward with yet another enjoyable album, arranged skilfully as always, and containing some instructive as well as pleasing tunes.

The solo Alto and Tenor parts are included on separate inserts.

Selected for the ABRSM Alto and Tenor saxophone examinations grades 3 and 5.

Another great collection of music from James Rae. The grade 5 piece Rondeau works very well and there are many great concert pieces to show off musical talents. Consider using the It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing for some improvising. You will not regret the purchase. I would buy again.

I bought the book "Take Ten" a few years ago, and enjoyed it so much I ended up purchasing this one. It most certainly lived up to standards. The book comes with a piano part and also two detachable parts for tenor and alto saxophone. The print is very clear and offers a wide choice of music from Faure to Ellington. It's perfect for grade exams as one of the pieces is in the syllabus. This book offers challenging but fun pieces for the intermediate player.
