It is good book for children who don't like scales.

The duets in this book make practising scales in lessons another enjoyable way of making music rather than a chore all round. Kids love them, and so do I.
Only drawback is that the scales have to be played differently from how they're done in exams, ie with long keynotes. I don't think this is a huge problem though, as there's no harm in being adaptable!

This is a great idea and I looked forward to playing it with my pupils. I found that some of the accompaniments were not rhythmically clear enough to encourage crisp scale playing. I should have prefered the minim version of the scale not to repeat the tonic at the top and at before the crochet version, as this usually has to be discouraged when preparing for the Associated Board exams. It would have been good to have a final scale in quavers or semiquavers for more advanced pupils.

Fun but causes confusion so I just break the scale down into bitesize sections to learn two handed which has moved pupils along faster with less faffing with counting and stopping

Very pleased with this as a teaching resource. Have found it useful for pupils from beginner to grade 5. Helps pupils to keep in time and play slowly as well as making scale practice more fun.
