What this book is teaching you is useful and can be applied to what you already play.
Can be a bit wordy and complicated. Perhaps jazz is.

        Musicroom Reviews

Bought this for my son for Christmas. He is in a Jazz trio at school and his visiting Jazz teacher (who is mainly a professional Jazz performer who teaches on the side) strongly recommended this book. I have Mark Levine's Jazz Theory book and inevitably there is some overlap in content in the early chapters, but Levine writes clearly on what can be a fairly heavy topic.

Excellent book for those who want to learn jazz piano. After covering each new subject there is a suggestion of tunes to work on. I can't be happier with this purchase.
