This is one of the books I learnt from in the early 1960s. The tunes are simple and don't involve too much moving around or vibrant rhythmn. I'm using it for a pupil with dyslexia who doesn't like modern music.
It's old fashioned with rhymes instead of pictures so wouldn't suit most modern pupils.

I started the piano with Carroll's "Scenes of a Farm" in the '50s, and have come to realise the value of his music as a teacher. It's very satisfying to play, very pianistic, and suits some young pianists very well. I bought it because of the ABRSM Grade 4 piece, "The Reef", and when I played it to a pupil, she described it as "cool" ... praise indeed!

The review I just wrote was WRONG!! It was for "Southern Seas" also by Carroll, so please ignore!

A trip down memory lane for me, this one, as I had it 40 years ago! Wanted for grade 2 student and it's a little too simple for him, but I shall use it for the babes!
