Vaccai's Metodo Pratico (Practical Method) for High Voice focuses on the art of the Italian language in performance. This advanced guide discusses different styles of singing and how to grasp the language in performance. The German singing translation has been provided by John Bernhoff. Lyrics are therefore presented in Italian and German, and the all commentaries and notes are provided in English, French and German.
The accompanying CD contains recordings of the examples presented in this book.
This is an excellent songbook. With a great range of songs the quality of the book is high, the print is large and clear, on good paper and well laid out. The CD recording is easy to work with and beautifully played. Each song has a separate page of editorial notes about the piece, its its history and it's current form, complete with the text in Italian, translated to English, and with phonetic translation. The book has been bound so that it opens out nicely for use. I bought this music for the grade 8 pieces, I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come, I think it is very good value. Anonymous

For any aspiring singer, this is an excellent series of songs with which to help develop ones technique. My new choral teacher (I have two actually presently!) recommended them to me and I have been very pleased. Suggest you order with the CD. Although a Bass, I have purchased this version (high voice) for my daughter. The service from Musicroom.com has been exemplary. Anonymous

I first used this method in 1970's and am delighted it is still available. It provides a fun but challenging way of leaning the ruduments of singing from scales through intervals to ornaments. The CD is invaluable if you are unable to play the piano well enough! Altogether I can thoroughly recommend this book. Anonymous
