OK - this is the second book, part of a trilogy by Herb. This is easily better than his first (swing blues) simply because of the excellent approach. He takes the standard "All The Things You Are" and shows you how to do a basic comp. Then he gives you a few bars of soloing ideas, for each chord of the progression. Finally, it ends with a separate long complete solo, putting it all together. It clearly shows you everything about Herb's playing - the chord formations he is thinking while soloing, tab, music AND fingering!! He also tries to remind you to focus on visualisation - and it works. The only downside is that the series is showing its age. The audio CD is very poor quality. Mind you, you can hear the notes, and the layout - just looks plain old!! Nevertheless, it works and is a simple approach.
