Excellent Service whilst all other companies were still using the weather as an excuse. The book arrived faster than the email dispatch note! Simple and adequately parceled up. Would use again, definitely.

Recommended by my son's violin teacher and seems effective in helping him to learn the third position. Short engaging pieces.

Provides a clear step-by-step introduction to 3rd Position. I use it after learning high 3rd finger pattern (e.g. Trinity Guildhall Gr1/Group2 scales) enabling confident reading at an earlier level. Helpful for those reluctant 4th finger users, dodgy left hand position and you can start to try out vibrato. I agree with a previous reviewer that the backing tracks are not brilliant and the semitone markers are just annoying. I prefer my pupils to “spot the semitones” and write in their own reminder if needed. Opens discussion with pupils so they can voice their opinions.

For this price I`ve expected more. For example better backing tracks. These are boring and not interestingly arranged, but worst of all, recorded on a poor quality syntethiser. Pieces are either traditional or author`s original but not interesting, and -in my opinion- too easy for player who know 1st position well and learn the 3rd position. In addition there are all semitones written in all the book - unnecessarily. Graphic are black & white - again nothing special.

I have only just started to use this book but I can see that it will be very useful . There are no other third position books that I know with a backing track CD. I have used the tunes before in the format for recorder. They are good choices and user-friendly especially in the way position changing is demanded straight away.
