a good variety of pieces of slightly increasing standard meaning that Grade 3 + pupils can play them without realising they were learning more.
the jazzy pieces were not very interesting.

A delightful book full of excellent teaching pieces. Kids love the comic book design. The Gillock pieces are some of his finest and enjoyed by American kids.

This is delightful. It includes good music in a variety of styles, made more fun by the addition of zany cartoons showing conversations between Gillock and Czerny. It probably appeals particularly to those with an interest in languages, because Czerny communicates in German and Gillock answers in English.
I haven't used this with a pupil yet, but am enjoying it myself. Another piano teacher recommended it to me, and she has used it with pupils who have liked it.

Excellent book. Beautifully presented. The modern witty pieces by Gillock compliment the Czerny titles. Good teaching material and fun repetoire all round.

Quite an odd cover, and the cartoons are really quite obscure, but the music is terrific for intermediate level fun progression.

This book is strange in it's design as it's a mixture of German and English comic strips all the way through. However, the music is really good. It has been a popular choice with my pupils. Pupils grade 3 and over would like it.
