A great book for players Grade 5 and above who would like to get a feel for jazz improvisation. Each piece includes a full page head with chord symbols followed by a written out "jazzed up" version of the tune. In contrast to some of the other books with written out solos, these are playable and well phrased and the backing cd is at a suitable speed. A lovely series of books!

I agree with the other reviewer - excellent value for money. You're never going to go far wrong with Gershwin and these arrangements are particularly good with the arranged "improvised" sections.
Just a couple of things though - some of the pieces are a little above Grade 5 and will require a bit of work to play - well worth the effort though.
I have Grade 8 and would rate this at Grade 6 to 7 overall.
The other thing is that I find the arrangements in the Tenor Sax version better for Clarinet. Same arrangements but written an octave higher - sounds much better.
When you've cracked this one, try the Broadway and Movie Songs By Special Arrangement Playalongs too.
You'll find them just as good.
