To those who have "been there", done that and kept the tin helmet, this is a very enjoyable, easily playable and singable collection encouraging nostalgic memories of the television series and the genre of Second World War popular song. The Ration Book facsimile cover makes the powdered eggs of the period almost acceptable ! Many of the songs were written earlier in the 1930's and used in the 1939 - 45 conflict but the pastiche song we all love from Dad's Army actually was composed for the series by Jimmy Perry and Derek Taverner in 1969. It's a great album to have. I wouldn't be without it.
