Glasgow Conductor, Composer, Howells Academic
- Very interesting part-song from 1964.
Setting a poem by Bryan Guinness (of the Guinness brewing family), first performed in Cork in May 1965.
The opening and closing motifs are very lyrical, and really encapsulate Howells' more mature melodic writing.
Score is legible
Definitely something different, perhaps pair with 'Inheritance', 'The Scribe' or 'Walking in the Snow'; his other a cappella part songs from the middle to later part of Howells' career.
- Slightly rough old Novello edition inserted within a new cover
No bar numbers. Would be useful for rehearsal purposes.
No information about the work contained within the edition.
