Dry, overly academic, and bears little or no relation to playing in jazz groups today. If I had seen it in a shop i would not have purchased it.

I’m an adult and a professional musician and this book is invaluable to anyone itching to learn jazz. I let one of my guitarists borrow book one and he was so impressed he asked if I would see if this title is still being published. I’m glad to see that it is, although the $4.95 cover price has increased a little.

Superb comprehensive and definitive book on jazz improvisation. There are 4 books in the series, which give you a complete guide to jazz improv.
