'Full Swell' is the sequel to Reynolds' earlier work, 'Organo Pleno.' Both books are niche works, as they are directed at that small-and-shrinking group of musicians known as the organist. I first acquired 'Full Swell' when I was a college student, and most of the humor escaped me. As I grew in experience and technique, more of the book struck personal chords, lost and otherwise. Good advice, humorously couched, prepares the student for the worst and best of what will come, while the established organist will get a good laugh out of sins omitted and committed in his/her time.
"One doesn't begin one's career by wanting to be an organist. One begins by wanting to be a cathedral organist."
