Les Wise. REH Prolicks. Examine the phrases of the masters with this unique dictionary of melodic ideas for improvisation. Over 800 licks in the styles of Tal Farlow, Pat Martino, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Johnny Smith and more.
The handbook offers a lot of patterns but, mysteriously enough, on the CD
they're played on piano and not on guitar. The tabs suck: many fingerings
can't actually be played.
This book should be re-named "The Bible of Bebop Licks". It is chock full of licks in a ii-V-I format, as well as licks over static chords. I've found that if it's by Les Wise, it is bound to be a classic!
