I like this book as a supplementary to the beginners' tutor because it has piano accompaniment, which is lacking in my favourite tutors for young pupils. It is very basic, but there are plenty of details to observe, and pupils can produce a satisfying performance after just a few lessons. Great for early sight reading too.

Very basic melodies with amazing piano accompaniment. Fresh and fun ambient for starters!

Much music that is composed for beginners is of poor quality. Paul Harris' Summer Sketches is a major exception to the rule- it is written with similar or better quality to the more advanced clarinet literature. This compilation has become popular among my younger clarinet students, particularly the Dancing Bears, Donkey Ride, and Carousel movements.
