Learn the trademark grooves and solos of the man who revolutionalized bass guitar. Get a closer look at his rich body of work through the structural, theoretical and harmonic analysis of these classic Jaco recordings.
If, after hearing Jaco's playing, you have the urge to try and imitate some of his recordings, or want to know how he played, then GET THIS BOOK! Quite a few of the songs are very challenging and are not for the faint-hearted but the practice and blisters are worth it in the end when you can play some of the most beautiful pieces ever written. Sometimes (only a rare few notes), the TAB differs from the music but it isn't a problem whatsoever. Some of the tracks on the CD sound like they were made on a computer and are a bit robotic and I would have liked some of them (Teen Town) to have a slow motion version. THESE SMALL THINGS SHOULDN'T STOP YOU BUYING THIS BOOK AS IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MAKES FOR GREAT PLAYING!!! Anonymous

For anyone who is touched by Jaco's musicianship this is a must. With dots and tab you can be up and running famous Jaco chops in no time. But be warned, this is no easy bass book. What you'll get from this is really how much you put in! If you're prepared to put the effort in and practise it's all here... The tunes are advanced level and can be hard going but there is a CD with the book that makes playing along more enjoyable and a challenge!! My only complaint? It would have been nice to have the tunes without the bass too. If you like Jaco, his sound and his style this will teach you a lot. Written intelligently and musically, it deals very well with the musicianship behind the technique and charisma. Believe me, Jaco did not just land...he practised...Alot!!! If you call yourself a bass player you have to take a look at this.
