In 1915, Falla took a trip through Andalusia with the poet and playwright Maria Lejarraga (Often known as Maria Martinez Sierra), with whom he collaborated on many of his best-known works. Only two of the works from this period have survived and been published, they were originally presented under the title Obras Desconocidas, but have been reprinted under the title Canciones De Maria Lejarraga.

Manuel De Falla (1876-1946) is usually regarded as the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century. He had a distinctively nationalistic style, and most of his works were inspired by Spanish culture or landscape.
