Friedrich Kuhlau: Piano Sonatinas Op.20 And Op.55

Books | Piano

Publisher: Kjos Music Company
Composer: Friedrich Kuhlau
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album

Kuhlau's most enduring contribution to the music of the Classical period is the wealth of original repertoire for the flute and collections of sonatas and sonatinas for the piano. The Sonatinas Op.22 and Op.55 are some of the most delightful pieces from this period for intermediate levels. These pieces provide excellent preparation for playing more advanced piano sonatas of the period.

This collection has been edited by Keith Snell.

Very reasonably priced collection. Definitely suitable for students who can't afford the expensive version.

These sonatinas are invaluable as attractive tuneful pieces which prepare young pianists for the many mature sonatas of the classical period. Technically there is much use of scalic passages, arpeggios similarly, alberti figurations etc, but all are playable and pianistic. Lots of material here some are more well-loved than others but all worth time and practice.
