Supporting three levels of ability in the one book is a great idea. You can start a couple of tunes at beginner level then, in parallel with starting a third, you can move one of them up a notch to intermediate. This pushes you (just) outside your comfort zone but you've still got the basic tunes to enjoy whilst developing. Each tune is arranged so that all three levels in sequence form a unified solo.
I found the narratives on the CDs make it much easier to tie up techniques with an individual tune's parts than reading from a book.
Steve Kaufman's pedagogical style is thorough, detailed and very well paced and, as he says, 'I think you're gonna like this one'.
