An important feature of this book is the development of a secure free stroke technique through the playing of arpeggios and chords. Second and seventh positions, important in both solo and ensemble work, are also explored. Left hand technique is developed by the introduction of slurs, and there is a page of common chords at the end of the book.

My daughter was recommended this series of books by her guitar tutor, she thoroughly enjoys using them and her playing is coming on very well as a result.

Tried & tested tutor book with excellent guide through learning simple arpeggios, 2nd position, slurs & 7th position. I have used it for 16 years, love it!

I'm a big fan of these books - the Alison Bendy CD's (or MP3's) really bring them to life. This book is truly awesome in the way it moves youngsters from the 'pointy' end to the 'dusty' end with its coverage of upper positions. The tunes are fantastic and I use it for some adults to help them with their high position learning. All my youngsters who have studied using this book have recieved high distinction passes in their exams. Buy it and read all of the little notes next to the tunes and learn all the scales you really can't go wrong - an excellent 2nd year tutorial book.

Book 3 of Nuttall and Whitworth's 4 book set. I have tried many guitar tutors over the years, and these are the best. A smooth progression of varied and enjoyable pieces, from complete beginner to Grade 2 level. Although aimed at children, I have had success using these books with adults, too. I particularly like the way the higher positions are introduced early on, rather than leaving it until there is high level of proficiency in first position, and almost complete ignorance of the rest of the neck.

A good book that progresses nicely from the first two books in this series. My daughter found this book very useful as a support to her grade 1 preparation.
