Katherine Davis (1892-1980) was an American composer and pianist, who studied in New England and Paris, and taught music theory in Massachusetts and Philadelphia. She wrote several hundred compositions (the precise number is unknown), of which by far and away the most famous is The Little Drummer Boy, an enduring and ever-popular Christmas classic. She left all the royalties from her compositions to one of the colleges where she studied and later taught.
