I like the clearcut way in which Dr Lovelock explained the rules of harmony. Other textbooks explain the chords in great detail but not how to string them together.
        No answers to the exercises.
n-generation reprint. Does not use the new(ish) standard notation for triads (Upper case for major, lower case for minor, etc) which became standard after it was written.

A good starting point for basic harmony work.

sound stuff in an old fashioned way.
Very dated/poorly presented. Reproduction sometimes unclear.
        Content boring beyond belief.
        other books cover ground better.
        needs updating.

To learn and understand harmony without this book will take you so much longer than necessaary. Written decades ago but still very relevant - part of a musicians essential reading - indispensable.
