Akron, OH Life long learner
- Polyrhythms are approached in a manner that is significantly different from most of the books and articles I have studied before to make it worth the read. The breakdown of some rhythms in subdivisions can be helpful in performing the easier polyrhthms ( like 2 against 3, 3 against 4 ) more precisely.
There are many actual exercises for practice to help one get a decent feel for executing various polyrhythms.
- In my opinion, the performer is still left to come up with their own counting method or an approximate interpolation for executing the more complex polyrhythms. In this respect, the book has a limitation similar to other materials I have read for learning to perform polyrhythms (So perhaps this is just an intrinsic limitation that cannot be avoided).
