If you can play just a few notes on the Recorder, then you're ready for this book. Here is a great selection of 12 pieces, perfect for your very first solos, all of them with simple, but attractive piano accompaniments. The pieces are arranged progressively, so you can hear the step-by-step improvement in your playing as well as simply enjoying the music.
Includes pieces set for the ABRSM Descant Recorder examinations grade 1 and 2.
Brian Bonsor has put together a delightful selection of pieces which range from beginner (G-D') to grade 2 difficulty. Most of them are his own compositions (the rest are his own arrangements), which are written for recorder players by a recorder player and teacher who really knows what works. Even the easiest pieces make the beginner feel that they are really making music, and the more complex pieces are enjoyable exam and concert repertoire. I regularly use this book with my own pupils, and it has had the 'thumbs-up' from every one of them. It is worth noting that the piano accompaniments are suitable for those of modest keyboard skills, yet add a very effective dimension to the pieces. Anonymous
A lovely book, full of charming pieces suited to young beginners. There are differing moods and techniques to be mastered, including breathing control. All my pupils have enjoyed playing from this book, and various audiences have also enjoyed listening to their perfrmances. This is a good book for curing people of "yuk recorder" syndrome! Anonymous
