Sergei Rachmaninov: Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini - Eighteenth Variation

Books | Piano

Publisher: Warner Bros
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album
This is a beautiful adaptation of the lyrical and sonorous 18th Variation from Rachmaninov's well-loved work. The popular piece is presented here transposed in the key of D - the original score is notated in D Flat. This arrangement includes the piano solo and orchestral themes, giving a complete performance for the solo performer. Those passages which incorporate the piano and orchestral parts are a little tricky, but once devised, are impressively flowing and complete.

Bring a popular and beautifully loved melody to you repertoire, with this fantastic arrangement of Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini: Eighteenth Variation. Adapted by Hermene W. Eichhorn. Suitable for a pianist of Grade 5+ standard.

      Alresford GB Struggling amateur pianist
Regarding the music - a good arrangement, though slightly simplistic.

Regarding the supply chain - worked well, quick and easy.
Regarding the music - would prefer a slightly more complex arrangement - there are some supporting gaps, where the original had a piano part filling in. I have made up my own in-fills!

Regarding the supply chain - no problems.

      Musicroom Reviews

Although this has the "bones" of the 18th variation I was a little disappointed as it is by no means as full a version that I owned many years ago which has sadly been lost.

I find this an unfaithful and rather simple transcription of the variation. First, the key is transposed down a semitone into the easier D major and then the actual music as a whole is oversimplified.

This is a very hard piece of music to find in its original format. Musicroom have done it! Quite simply a must have piece.

This arranged version of Rachmaninoff's 18th Variation is extremely "oversimplified." The key is changed completely, all notes are moved down a semitone due to this transposition and the orchestra's part is incorporated into the score. If you are looking for the original piano part, this is not it. This is for those learning to play the piano, not those seriously looking to play professionally.
