Learn to play eight classic Shadows guitar parts and jam along with a professional session band. The Jam With... guitar workshop is a powerful learning tool that will help you extend your stockpile of licks and fills and develop your improvisational skills!
Hank Marvin's unique guitar style has been an inspiration to several generations of guitarists worldwide, with instantly recognisable recordings such as Apache, F.B.I. and Wonderful Land. This guitar workshop is a powerful learning tool that will help you extend your stockpile of licks and fills and develop improvisational skills.
The combination of musical notation and guitar tablature in this book together with backing tracks on the CD gives you the opportunity to learn eight of Hank's tracks note-for-note and them jam with a professional session band. The track listing reflects some of The Shadows' most popular recordings, providing something for guitarists to have fun with and improvise with, as well as something to aspire to.
If you have a Stratocaster and echo-unit, you probably want to play a Hank Marvin/Shadows hit or two - just for fun. And here you have a few.
But there are some disappointments. The first thing you´ll notice is that the CD cannot be taken out of the sleeve without destroying it - the sleeve that is. The next thing is that some of the tracks do not at all sound like 'superb quality, live recorded tracks' - they sound more like midi files downloaded from the internet.
I have a few of the 'Play Guitar With...' series, I think they sound much better.

Just received my copy of this book. It arrived only a couple of days after the promised date, not bad for trans-atlantic and the christmas season! It was everything I expected. I had no trouble extracting the CD. (I put it in a slim line case.) The print is clear for my old eyes to read. The arrangements seem as close to the original as I can remember. My only gripe is with the books binding - it stubbornly refuses to lay flat on the stand. I need to hold the pages down with clothes pegs. Makes it tough to turn the page. I might just pull it apart and punch holes in it.

Been a complete beginner I have found this a great guide for the novice well laid out and the backing tracks alone are worth the money I am no Hank Marvin but this will help me on my way. Anonymous

If you like the Shadows music and you want to play somthing that sounds good, without having to sing, this is an excellent book. Ideal for anyone who has already learned the basics of guitar playing and can read tablature. Comes with a CD so you can hear what you should sound like, and you dont need the ability to read music. The CD also contains backing tracks, without the lead part, so you can play along with them. Anonymous
