This book is excellent, especially for young beginners. My son is 5 and it is perfect for him. The CD and DVD are really useful too, but I think the book is its best feature.

I enjoyed teaching this book to pupils - confusing why the accompaniment on the CD continues to pay the piece over and over again whilst there is only one repeat sign. Instructions are clear and it moves at a gentle pace. This was suitable for the age group I was teaching - young primary.

PRO: This book is ideal for early years children, 6-8. It starts slowly and gives enough time for the children to get used in reading notes, while guessing where they should be played and listening to the CD as well, before moving to more notes and simple chords. the graphics are wonderful and the children easily identify with them, as well as the made-up titles of the compositions. Basic theory is introduced at a perfect pace. CONTRA: It could benefit from simpler arrangements, as often children are confused from so many sounds on the recordings. Slower versions of the tracks, especially for the first 10-20 tracks would be beneficial as well.

This book arrived extremely quickly & in perfect condition - it looks really easy to understand - it's for my 7yr old Grandson so hopefully he should find this easy to follow

I was recommended this book by my daughter's Guitar teacher and it's proving to be a really good buy; as well as introducing concepts simply and clearly, it has a CD and DVD. NB. the DVD is especially useful as it shows the music, finger positions clearly and plays an accompanying beat/music. Recommended!

I bought this for my young daughter, age 7. As I play guitar I bought it to teach her myself. My daughter wasn't impressed by the DVD and CD but really liked the book. It is colourful, great illustrations and quirky names for the exercises, easy to understand and perfect for beginners. It introduces the guitar and written music very well. The book shows how to use a plectrum/pick but I have ignored that and taught her to finger pick instead. It introduces chords and there is a lovely pull out chord chart. The pace of the book is good and my little girl is easily progressing through it. I would definitely recommend it and will be buying book 2. The DVD and CD are an added bonus, but I don't think they are really necessary as the book is so easy to follow. Good value for money.
