Everytime I find myself wondering whether I can notate something someway or wonder about the spacing of a certain expression, dynamic or whatever else I turn to this very small book. It has yet to deliver me an unsatisfactory answer. Helpful, practical and indeed, essential. Highly recommended.

Covers all of the essential definitions and composers as well as some good theory. Excellent value.

For a quick reference and an understanding of chord construction. This is a clear and concise guide at to very good price. It's written for the American market so whole steps and half step is referred to instead of tones & semitone but this isn't really too much of an issue. Very good quick guide.
