Brilliant selection of pieces. Fun to play and relevant for today's musician. Technical excercuses complement it and will produce a well rounded player who is competent and confident to play in a band/ensemble.

The pieces are excellent. There is a big jump up from grade 3 though.

This is a brilliant book with Jazzy blues and even Jazzy classicals. Excellent for whoever wants to get away from the classical grades, and much easier than the Jazz grades. Enjoy!

I find these Rockschool Piano exam pieces very fun material for my students that are willing to go the popular music path. Very enjoyable and great material that makes them want to practice. However, I would have preferred more examples of improvisation and interpretation examples at the back.

Pieces are OK. However, when it comes to the scales a different matter! If you have not encountered scales in modes before the rubric is ambiguous as to what is actually required. Only one scale example is printed out for each of mixolydian, lydian, aeolian, dorian. It is not clear whether they want the scale 'in the key of' or 'starting on' a particular note. It would be much more helpful to print out all the scales that are required so those who are not familiar with them could be sure they were getting it right!

The Rockskool Series has been such a godsend as being rated by SQA, I don't have to worry about having the pieces graded. It provides ideal practical examination material for those pupils happier playing more popular music for piano.
