Only been playing for three years but took this book to my weekly group lesson a few weeks ago and it's a regularly used source for pieces to play now. Definitely a great 'step up' .
        Haven't found any yet.

Well produced music book. Having two CDs, one with the lead instrument and one without, enables the player to hear and learn the piece before attempting it solo. Overall a good package.
What constitutes 'jazz greats' is of course a matter of personal choice. I would have liked more blues and less Latin. Whether Besame Mucho, I'm Getting Sentimental Over You, Perhaps Perhaps, should be included on a compilation of jazz greats is questionable.

I love Jack Long and Paul Honey's arrangements on this Cd. The varied choice of music is superb. Solos are well written and very fluid to play. The sound of John Whelan is the icing on the cake and a sound that we all wish we could produce. Heaven! thanks for such great publications, keep up the excellent work we are all having such fun playing the pieces.

The backing music is great, well arranged and loads of fun. I would recommend this to anyone who really wants to have fun with jazz - it's great to be able to hear the sax and play along to it and then play on your own.

I started to learn to play the Alto Saxophone late last summer. I hadn't got a clue where to start. Having been recommended to contact Musicroom for tutorial material, the most recent one being Guest Spot 20 Jazz Greats for the Alto Sax, and I have found it fantastically helpful and interesting. I would recommend it to any aspiring Sax player.

I've found this a fantastic book, especially because of the backing tracks, it includes all the numbers you could want to play.

This book is a great introduction to playing jazz for young saxophone enthusiasts. I loved playing the music and have found it the most beneficial and enjoyable CD playalong book I have purchased. I recommend it to anyone who likes to play good music!

I have always liked these books because the CDs allow you to hear what the song should sound roughly like and once you know them well you can then play with the backing which is great because it keeps you in time much better. The songs are all good, I find a few a little slow for my liking but I still enjoy playing them, even as warm-ups. A definite must-have for anyone around Grade 4-6 who just wants some fun tunes to play.

Great book with a variety of tunes to play, good for up to early intermediate level.

I ordered this for my daughter who's been playing for about a year. Some of the tunes are fairly straightforward and some need quite a bit of practice so there's a good variety. The backing track is fantastic especially the big band numbers like Fly me to the Moon. The only downside is that the backing is on 2 discs, one with soloist and backing and the other cd just the backing, so we had to keep swapping discs over during practice. The music doesn't have the track reference numbers with it either so you have to work it out for yourself. But on the whole a fab book with a good variety of the classic jazz tunes, latin and swing.
