There are lots of practical exercises, so even weak pupils can hone their knowledge
The musical terms are just listed for the pupil to fill in definitions (unless I've missed an appendix) and don't comprehensively cover those brought forward from earlier grades.

Simple straight forward explanations and easier step by step samples to work through that were a welcome relief after having got stuck on other theory books. Not having any musical background myself, I was able to work through Grade 5 theory with my 12year old daughter and based on results she got from the ABRSM past papers she worked through, she's expecting at least a very high merit in exam.

Currently, this is the best comprehensive theory book for this level, PARTICULARLY for those who are serious about music theory and wish to take further theory grades, GCSE or beyond. (Experienced GCSE AS and Alevel teacher)
