First published in 1921, George Dyson’s superb Woodland Suite was originally titled In Pixieland. This title in part describes the musics changes of mood, from lively to tranquil, symbollic of the movement and nature of woodland nymphs. Expressive, exciting and beautiful; this is an evocative and charming work and is ideally suited to amateur and school orchestras.

A delightful set of fairly simple pieces - that is, pieces which sound 'professional' but are not too technically demanding. I am seeking repertoire for a community string orchestra which is now expanding towards full wind, but without overpowering the strings - not an easy search; these pieces fit the bill well and are satisfying to play.
