Create the boogie sounds of such great pianists as Jools Holland and Jelly Roll Morton. Develop authentic left-hand rhythmic patterns and sparkling riffs. Discover the secrets of syncopation, arpeggios, grace notes, and other essential boogie techniques. Each track on the accompanying CD is recorded twice, first with the piano, then with backing tracks so you can play the piano part.
This book serves as a good introduction into Boogie Woogie but does assume some knowledge of piano playing. I'm still working through it but the excercises are really good for practicing different aspects of Boogie Woogie. The accompnying CD is very well recorded and adds depth to the book, as playing on your own never sounds as good. Overall, I thoroughly recommend it but there are some parts where techniques are not explained as well as they should be (E.G, what a Turnaround is) but I may be being a little picky. Buy if you want to start to learn Boogie Woogie. Anonymous
Great fun, this book takes you through the principles of boogie woogie. The level is progressive but there is a bit of a jump in level about 2/3 the way through the book. The CD accompaniment is fab Anonymous

I thought this book was a fantastic introduction to Boogie Woogie style piano playing. I am classical trained and this was my first attempt at a different style of playing. Its easy to follow and great fun. The CD is very helpful. I can't wait to get my hands on more of this type of music. Once you pick up this book you'll find you can't put it down. It leaves you wanting more and more. Brilliant!
