Good selection of Blues. A good standard of difficulty for me (adult clarinettist given a tenor sax recently) in that I can almost play most of these but need to work on them to improve them. Fun to have the CD to play along with.

this is the first playalong I have used, so cannot compare with any other. If you could suggest James Last type of music, I would indeed me happy

Classic Blues is a superb Play along Book and CD. It repeats some of the tunes in the Alto Jazz Greats Book. All the tunes are great to play with their melody + suggested written improvisations. You can put the CD on and have your own Concert, fantastic group of 10 Jazzy numbers. The arrangements all set so well in the Tenor range, and you can practice your own improvising playing along with the accompaniment CD. As an intermediate player of alto & tenor I found them very playable with a bit of a challenge with the improvisations. I am using it as a workbook with my Tutor.

Great book. Good selection of varied tracks for varied skill level. CD is a huge bonus as get to hear what it should sound like!! Backing track also included so you can play and record yourself. Only problem I had was one track on CD is jumping - hopefully that will be resolved very soon.

I bought this for my son at Christmas and he has not stopped playing along since. This is an excellent book with good arrangements of classic tunes. My son is at grade 5 so the intermediate level is just about right keeping the playing within his ability but with a few challenges to keep it interesting . It's definitely a good purchase and strongly recommended

I prefer the arrangements of the alto version of the book, but never the less I still enjoy playing along to them. Nice collection of songs that are easy/intermediate level. It is also worth mentioning that the CD is in the same key for Tenor and Alto - and presumably any other instruments. I bought the tenor version as I needed to replace the original CD from the Alto book but couldn't bring myself to buy the exact same book again when I play more than one instrument in different keys.

The backing track is excellent, not like some publications which use a computerised backing, rather than real instruments. The tracks were of a good length and not too difficult for a part-time player like me. I really enjoyed this publication from the first time I played it.

I have had more enjoyment from this saxophone book/cd than any other. The arrangements are superb in that they offer so much to a keen intermediate player (like myself) - recognisable melodies with straightforward and more advanced sections and useful improvised ideas as well. The soloist has a great tone and follows the music exactly which I've found very helpful for improving my sight reading and timing. Currently working on 'Round Midnight. Great fun!

A brilliant book. Certainly amongst my top favourites Music/CD books, with some classic blues melodies that are fun to learn and which everyone knows, such as "Midnight", "Hit the Road Jack" and my favourite, "I wish I knew how it would feel to be free". I'm to do grade 4 tenor sax soon, and it's at the right level for me, with a few challenging ones to learn. A very high recommendation for any tenor sax player.

Was not too sure if I should buy this book as there were a couple of titles I did not know, but very glad I did. Some lovely arrangements. Very bluesy. As a beginner to intermediate there are one or two passages to challenge me. As usual, Guest Spot provide spot on backing. Worth purchasing.

Excellent buy for anyone interested in learning to play Blues saxophone. The sample tunes are very well played and the backing tracks an absolute treat. Money very well spent.
